IPPCA Tweaks Contractor Membership Levels

In a bid to bolster its membership ranks, International Professional Pond Contractors Association of Woodstock, Ga., unveiled a four-tiered membership platform for contractors. The new levels range from supporting members ($25 per year) to approved contractor members ($200 per year).
The association recognizes higher levels of membership through greater benefits. For example, the approved contractor membership level, which is restricted to contractors who pass IPPCA’s minimum quality-control standards, receives free registration to the group’s educational conference InfoTanza (tentatively scheduled for Oct. 22-24 in Atlanta, Ga.), additional product discounts for products ordered through the group, project leads and eligibility for the group’s highest 5-star rating.
The next level, basic membership, requires half the dues ($100) and is open to contractors and retailers that complete the group’s entrance evaluation exam and submits three customer satisfaction reports. This membership class does not receive additional discounts on products and receives project leads only in the absence of an approved contractor member in their area.
An apprentice member level ($50 per year) is designed primarily for contractors new to the industry. It provides an 80 percent discount to InfoTanza. The supporting member level, open to anyone, provides a 50 percent discount to InfoTanza.
All levels receive certain benefits, such as access to the member’s only online forum, the opportunity to attend its annual Ponditat for Humanity pond build and the ability to earn certification. Expected topics at this year’s InfoTanza include air diffusers, bacteria, floating islands, Firestone certification, UVs, bead filters, wildbird seed, pumps, traditional koi ponds, filtration, LED lighting, solar equipment, liners and photography.
