The tested aerators were manufactured by AFMA members, including Aquamaster, Aqua Control, Kasco Marine, Oase and The Powerhouse Inc.
“The testing revealed very favorable results for all of the units,” said Bob Robinson, AFMA president. Roginson said AFMA's members created the testing methods, which an independent, third party accredited. A complete listing of the results was expected to be posted at www.afma-us.org.
AFMA uses the results in marketing to assist individuals in purchasing aeration equipment, Robinson said. Specifically, distributors and end users can use the results as a competitive analysis or to appropriately size a unit to a given volume of water, he said.
Robinson said, however, that flow rate is not the only factor considered when choosing an aeration unit to purchase. Initial purchase price, operating costs and maintenance costs also apply, he said.
