Pond Forum Raises $15K for Make-A-Wish Foundation

Jon Lottes, CEO for Anjon Mfg., had his head shaved for charity. | Pond Forum 2009 — hosted May 1-2 by landscape contractor Carson Enterprises Inc. of Omaha, Neb., and sponsored by Anjon Mfg. of O’Fallon, Mo., and distributor Industrial Sales of Omaha — raised $15,250 for charity while teaching homeowners and contractors about pond building. The training created a 22-foot waterfall and focused on water feature installation using tools such as Anjon’s pond calculator, vanishing waterfall calculator and pipe sizing chart.
“Anjon Mfg. is honored to have teamed up with our master distributor Industrial Sales and its customer Carson Enterprises to achieve three goals,” said Jon Lottes, Anjon’s CEO, “one, to work really hard in the construction process; two, to educate pond builders in techniques of building a pond the right way, and three, to generate a donation to Make-A-Wish Foundation.”
Lottes thanked several other companies — including ADS, Atlantic Water Gardens, Creative Lighting Concepts, Cresline, Ebara Pumps, Heritage Nursery, Spears and Titan Machinery — for donations of time, materials and cash for the fund-raiser. The event raised the money for Make-A-Wish Foundation, in part due to Lottes’ willingness to lose his hair.
Also putting their hair on the line were Scott Carson and Kevin Fischman with Carson Enterprises and about five others at the event, according to Anjon. The men volunteered to shave their heads (or in the already shaven Carson’s case, his goatee) if the $15,000 goal was met.
