| Grace Chapman, who spearheaded the project to get the SustainRain Rain Harvest System installed on the Ambler Campus, lays the last tank into a rain harvest basin. | Administrators at the Temple University Ambler Campus in Ambler, Pa., installed a Sustainrain Rain Harvest System manufactured by Complete Aquatics LLC on the roof of the university’s greenhouse.
The school received a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection for more than $53,000 along with $18,000 in labor and supplies from Complete Aquatics to install the Sustainrain Rain Harvest System.
Local pond installers Senn Landscaping Inc. and White’s Lawn and Landscape excavated and installed the 12,000 gallon Sustainrain Rain Harvest System on the campus grounds. The Sustainrain Rain Harvest System collects water from every downspout on the 6,650 sq. ft. research greenhouse roof and is expected to capture about 180,000 gallons of rain water per year, enough to sustain the greenhouse’s need of 178,000 gallons annually.
