The first round of competition in the “Parks for the People: A Studio Competition to Re-imagine America’s National Parks” commenced in December. The contest challenged interdisciplinary teams from colleges and universities to create model solutions for seven park sites in each geographic region of the United States and use the design paradigms to create a stronger national identity for the country’s open spaces.
Teams from nine colleges and universities advanced from a field of 41 entries in the contest. They will face a second jury review this summer.
