Care Requirements: Orfes prefer cooler water temperatures They can remain in an outdoor pond over winter provided the pond does not freeze solid, and it retains an open place in the ice for gas exchange They need 2' to 3' of unfrozen water below the ice as well.
Feeding: Will eat any prepared foods.
Temperament: Get along fine in a pond -- tend to spend more time in the upper regions of the pond than Koi or Goldfish.
Breeding: Breed like Goldfish and Koi, scattering eggs, usually in the spring.
Additional Information: Orfes originate in Europe, and they have been bred for ponds there for centuries.
