| Pond contracts from across the United States converged in Loma Linda, California, for this Ponditat For Humanity project. | I am very pleased with the International Professional Pond Companies Association’s hard work in planning the 7th annual Info Tanza pond event. This year's Info Tanza was held in conjunction with the Irrigation Association’s annual trade show and expo in San Diego last week. The entire week was a hit.
Info Tanza events began to unfold with the annual Ponditat For Humanity build. This is an event where the IPPCA awards a water feature to a worthy cause. This year’s Ponditat For Humanity recipient was Loma Linda hospital’s PossAbilities foundation which is dedicated to helping physically challenged individuals.
Pond contractors flew in from all over the United States to help build an amazing water feature that included stone columns and a pondless waterfall. All the materials and labor were donated by IPPCA members. Pond contractors bought their own tickets and paid for hotels at their own expense.
The payback was tremendous. The chance to network was priceless and making a difference in the lives of people who really appreciate this kind of inspirational art is what volunteerism is all about.
Preparations for the Ponditat For Humanity project began months in advance. The actual build took place over the course of three days. The results were astounding.
The classroom education part of Info Tanza started on Saturday, Nov. 5, at the San Diego Convention Center. Three days of classroom instruction enabled attendees to keep up with the latest in pond methodologies and products.
The Irrigation Association's show featured a special Pond Section where pond contractors could see the latest product innovations. At Sunday night's Awards Night, held at the House of Blues, Top Gun contractors were recognized for their talents and volunteerism.
Plans are underway to make next year’s event in Florida even bigger. Plan to be there!
