Low-Voltage Lighting Can Boost Sales in the Pond World

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By Mike Garcia

Low-Voltage Lighting Can Boost Sales in the Pond WorldDuring a recent conversation with Eric Triplett, a fellow pond building contractor in Yucaipa, Calif., he let me in on one of the best kept secrets in the pond world. As we discussed the current economic challenges, Eric said his decision to not participate in the current economic downturn was enhanced through his decision to start installing low-voltage lighting.

Because building a pond is usually a multi-thousand-dollar event, a large amount of trust exists between the pond builder and the client. Eric has a great relationship with past clients, and he simply calls them to see if they have questions or need something else. After some small talk, Eric mentions that with the darkness of night coming much earlier this time of year, the use of low-voltage lighting can allow owners to enjoy their ponds longer each day.

Eric realized that thousands of dollars are left on the table when pond builders do not mention low-voltage landscape lighting to their clients. At last count, Eric has installed several hundred lights in the past couple of months, and this is making a positive impact on his pocketbook.

Do you install low-voltage lighting? If so, how did you get started? If not, why not?

We do not install low voltage lighting because we never thought about it. Now you have given us food for thought.
