Picking Pond Events in a Fractionalized Pond World

Savvy business owners must balance time working on jobs with time away from the business to attend personal development seminars and events to keep their businesses healthy. We only can take off so much time, and we know when the limit is reached, because the bills start to pile up.

So how do you decide which pond events to attend each year?

The pond world seems fractionalized, leading to several networking events each year. The International Professional Pond Contractors Association’s annual Info Tanza event is coming up in two weeks. It coinsides with the end of the working season and when bank accounts are flush with money. Events held at the end of winter come when time is available, but money often is tighter. Holding an event in the middle of summer takes one away from business, which makes it harder to attend.

As a business owner, I find it difficult to choose from several pond and water garden events because I don’t want to miss out on any networking and new product displays. Each event features its own tone and many friendships develop during attendance.

Is the fractionalization of the pond world necessary? Perhaps this is competition, and competition is good. Would fewer pond events improve the pond world? Which pond event do you like, and why?
