Pond Installation Training on the Rise

By Emily Lambert

Bonus Content from Water Garden NewsProfessional training, or getting certified for installation, is one of the most valuable tools in the industry, said Jon Lottes, CEO for Anjon Mfg. Inc. in O’Fallon, Mo. “It shows that technicians have learned how to do it the right way.”

Untrained technicians often are scared to put pipes through liners, so they put the pipes around the liners and need to hide them, or they put the pipes through the liners and have a problem, Lottes said.

In response, several companies offer training and certification. For example, Anjon teaches seaming repair, often going to distributors or training on-site and guaranteeing the job. The company also hosts an annual seminar and publish information on its website, Lottes said.

Aquascape also offers installation training, in which professionals purposefully create ruptures during installations. “We show them how easy it is to repair,” said Dave Kelly, vice president of product development for Aquascape Inc. in St. Charles Ill.
